Secret 7 Collaboration: Vinyl Experience – In collaboration with Secret 7, we created a special vinyl containing seven expertly curated tracks, one of them representative of every theme of childhood, resilience, or conflict. The seventh track is hidden, only accessible by listening—it is an allegory for unheard voices.

This adds an element of mystery and moving resonance, making this vinyl not only a collector’s item, but also a platform for storytelling. Its proceeds are given to child-focused NGOs operating in conflict zones. The vinyl cover also showcases a design that visualizes what these children face in everyday life.

“Dear War Child” is a multimodal awareness-raising campaign aimed at making people aware of children’s lives growing up in war zones. The campaign uses digital and material media to engage people emotionally and empathetically with narratives centered on children affected by conflicts as well as evoking strong compassion and affiliation. At its core,

“Dear War Child” humanises distant conflict by shedding light on little-told stories of children impacted by war. In a world with an over-reliance on figures and politics, our campaign humanises storytelling with art and narrative. Through humanising, we hope to evoke empathy, create awareness, and give an audience a chance to act.

We intended not just to create a campaign but to create a movement—a public letter to the world, written on behalf of people who are often silenced; not to mock or rag on the political narratives established by the war, but to remove the ‘dehumanisation’ factor of war. “Dear War Child” gives space to these voices and builds connections between people who otherwise may never meet. By giving our audiences multiple points of interaction (reading, listening, writing), we applaud the diversity of human emotion and allow people to connect with others in a way that feels relevant or personal to them; informal exchange, as ALL communication resolves to the same meaning.

In the end, “Dear War Child” asked the simple yet profound question:

What would you say to a child living in a situation of conflict? By answering that question, we hope to increase awareness through empathy, use our momentum to proliferate compassion across the globe, and contribute to a world that listens more, especially to its youngest survivors.

Microsite – The heart of this online effort is here. The site has fictionalletters from children in conflict areas, a peek at what scares them, what they hope for, and what they endure day by day.

One key interactive feature is a submission form through which individuals can share hope and inspiration with these children.

Writing establishes an emotional connection, turning passive observers into active participants.

A video telling the story of a young child seeing the world as they know it destroyed due to war, shown through striking colours and impactful animation. The viewer is taken through their journey as the child almost loses their innocence, being saved before it’s too late and given a glimpse of hope in a hopeless world.

This impactful video serves as a symbol representing Dear War Child’s wish for every child in a war-torn country.

Billboards and Posters – Strong billboards and posters were produced to create physical presence and connect with a wider constituency than is accessible online.
